HISTORY OF SIMON BOLIVAR'S PARK

The story of Simon Bolivar Central Park dates back to land of 1,968 when the current scenario a Mass was held as part of the visit of Pope Paul VI to Colombia.The visionary management of mayors and Jorge Gaitán Cortés and Virgilio Barco Vargas, allowed the separation of about 400 acres as green space and recreational long-term (including current boyfriends, Salitre, Children's Museum, Sports Complex and building Coldeportes National, among others), thanks to which Bogotá now has a beautiful, large park named Metropolitan of El Libertador.To mark the arrival of the Pope to Bogota in 68 was built the so-called Temple of the Eucharist, which survives today as part of the geography of the stage, witness the important event and a reference point for the adaptation of other works .Legally, the park was born according to Law 31 of 1979 to commemorate the 200 years since the birth of Bolivar to take place 4 years later, thus leaving a reasonable time to build the new park. (The website is currently being built to date in 2003 - 2004)
